The Passion According to St. Matthew, BWV 244. Johann Sebastian Bach

Vox Luminis & Freiburger Barockorchester

Auditorio Nacional de Madrid - Sala Sinfónica

Tuesday, 28/03/2023 19:30

The Passion according to St. Matthew, BWV 244 by Johann Sebastian Bach is one of the most relevant musical compositions in the history of music, premiered in 1727 or 1729 (the exact year is unknown).

Extremely moving and spiritual, the work presents the passion and death of Christ through a composition that was very innovative for its time. Today it is one of the most iconic pieces of classical music, as well as one of the most famous works of the German composer. The concert will also feature the participation of the Pequeños Cantores de la JORCAM.

In this concert at the Auditorio Nacional the Passion will be performed by Vox Luminis, a vocal ensemble directed by Lionel Meunier and internationally praised for its unique sound, its cohesion, the personality of each timbre and the homogeneity of the voices.

Vox Luminis will be accompanied by the prestigious Freiburger Barockorchester, thus forming an infallible tandem in what will probably be the best version of the Passion to be heard live in Spain in 2023.
